Man detained over murdered girlfriend

Police in Kabalagala have arrested a man Wycliffe Senabulya, on allegations of killing his girlfriend, Gorette Arot.

Deputy police spokesperson, Polly Namaye, says Senabulya, is detained at Kabalagala Police Station alongside three others who are also believed to have connived with him to kill Arot on Sunday.

They are Harriet Hawumba, 19, a student at Cavendish University, Watson Kalyango, 22, and John Julius Seremba, 22, all residents of Kabalagala Police Division.

“We have information that Arot was Senabulya’s girlfriend. The victim had been in a relationship with the suspect for some time which resulted into a child,” Namaye said.

Although Namaye did not divulge how Arot was killed, a police officer privy to the crime said she was strangled and her body dumped near Nsambya Police Barracks in the late hours of Sunday night.

In January, Old Kampala police arrested a Congolese national accused of killing his girlfriend and her friend.

Hulda Njiba Mukendi and her friend Safi were found killed and locked inside an apartment at Kakeeka zone, behind Buganda Royal Institute, Lubaga Division, in Kampala.

Mukendi and Safi’s bodies were discovered by a security guard after he became suspicious of loud music playing inside yet the house had been locked for two days.

Police found bodies naked and pork which they were suspected to have been served before they were strangled was found on plates.
