I can be okay for a year without working – Bobi Wine

Ugandan pop star turned MP Bobi Wine has revealed that he can survive for a year even if he is not working.

While appearing on a local TV station, NBS on Friday, Bobi Wine was asked whether he would be hit financially incase his planned Easter Monday concert was blocked as it was on Boxing Day of 2018.

Bobi Wine, also the Kyadondo Easter MP said he’s a ghetto youth who knows how to survive without money.

“Yes!  The cancellation of my Boxing Day concert hit me financially, but I’m a ghetto youth. I know how to be happy with or without money. As a person, I can be okay for a year without working,” he said, adding that: “You have been seeing people bringing bunches of matooke, chicken and so on.”

He, however, said that this on the other hand affects the people he works with directly because they are blocked from making some money for their survival.

“People like bouncers, hawkers, those who sell food and tea are all affected if my shows are cancelled. These people are unemployed and are looking for ways of survival and this is creating jobs for them,” he said.

Meanwhile, Police who had earlier cleared Bobi Wine to perform at his Busabala beach on Easter Monday, later changed their minds on Saturday and called it off.

He was on Monday arrested trying to access Busabala for a press briefing following the cancellation of his concerts in Kampala, Arua and Lira and was driven back to his residence in Magere, Wakiso District.
