The Grammy Award-winning singer, Adele, who met the US-born charity boss in 2011 and married him in secret in 2016, confirmed their three-year marriage had come to an end – but vowed to raise their six-year-old son Angelo together ‘lovingly’.
Adele 30, and Simon Konecki, 45, ‘were living separate lives for years’ before break down of three-year marriage on Friday, the daily mail reports.
The notoriously private couple had seemingly been in a loving relationship for eight years, with Adele, using her Grammy speeches to gush over the 45-year-old.
But now it has been reported the pair had been ‘living separate lives for years’ and ‘accepted that something just isn’t going to work’.
A source told The Sun: ‘This is a very sad situation – Adele and Simon had been living separate lives for some time.
‘It was well known amongst their friends that this time they simply were not going to sort it out.
‘They had been trying for years but eventually you have to accept that something just isn’t going to work.’
On Good Friday, the shock news of their split was confirmed by the Rumour Has It singer’s people.
‘Adele and her partner have separated. They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy,’ her representatives revealed.
Adele and Simon tied the knot sometime in 2016, though they managed to keep the secret wedding under wraps until the following year.
The singer confirmed the union on-stage as she picked up a Best Album Award at the 2017 Grammys.
During an emotional acceptance speech, she said: ‘I’m married! My husband, my son, you’re the only reason I do it.’
