Singer Eddy Wizzy released on police bond

Northern Uganda music star Eddy Wizzy real names Olak Okuni has secured police bond after he was arrested on charges of robbery and assault.

Okuni 24, was arrested on Sunday from a hideout in Gulu Municipality following a February 1 incident in which he allegedly beat up a cab driver he had hired and bundled him in his car boot with the help of one Patrick Kinyera before driving to Pece Division in Gulu Municipality.

The Anga Obed Mujony hit maker reportedly roughed up Walter Lacen following a quarrel after successfully conducting two music shows in Omoro and Kiryandongo districts on the same day.
The Officer in Charge of Gulu Central Police Station, Mr John Bosco Nyangkol told Daily Monitor in an interview that the artist and his accomplice were released on police bond on Monday.He said they had been charged with simple robbery and assault causing grievous harm.

He noted that the suspects who were detained at Gulu Central Police station are to report to the police station a week later.
According to a source that chaired a negotiation meeting between the artistE and the victim, the parties decided to settle their case out of court to avoid unnecessary expenses.

“They decided to settle the matter out of court. It’s in their best interest to have peaceful coexistence. The victim accepted not to go to court. They hugged and forgave each other,” he said.
This reporter established that Okuni agreed to pay Lacen Shs 1.6 million for the in convenience.
But when contacted, Mr Nyangkol said he didn’t get details about the artist accepting to compensate his Lacen.
In his statement to Police, Mr Okuni said they roughed up their driver because he was speeding adding that they thought he [driver] had planned to cause an accident.

Our efforts to get a comment from Mr Okuni by press time were futile as our repeated calls to his known phone number went unanswered.
Eddy Wizzy who broke through the music industry in 2010 is also famous for other hit songs such as Weng Nono, Am sorry, Mot mot and Mar Ni among otherS. The two time Northern Uganda Music Awards overall artist of the year 2017 and 2018 is signed to More Fire entertainment record Label.
