Opposition politicians from Busoga Sub-region have given former Vice President, Dr Specioza Wandira Kazibwe, 48 hours to apologize to Ugandans for snubbing Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi during Bishop Cyprian Bamwoze’s burial in Jinja District on Sunday.

Speaking in Jinja on Tuesday ahead of the Busoga region Democratic Party (DP)-Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) reunion today (Wednesday), the DP President General Press Secretary, Mr Fred Mwesigwa, said they have given Dr Kazibwe two days to apologize lest, “We work on her politically.”

“As Opposition in Busoga, we apologize for the indiscipline Dr Kazibwe exhibited towards visitors, including Bobi Wine, who came to attend the Bishop’s burial. In Busoga culture, it is not a crime to attend the burial of someone you didn’t visit when he was still alive. She should apologize,” Mr Mwesigwa said.

Mr Moses Bigirwa, the People Power coordinator, said it was unfortunate for such a statement to be made by Dr Kazibwe.

The Jinja Municipal Council Speaker, Mr Moses Bizitu, a Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) stalwart, said that in their culture they welcome everyone who comes to grieve, but as Basoga they are ashamed by her indiscipline.

While Mr Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, sauntered into Bugembe Cathedral for the burial, Ms Kazibwe said: “I don’t know what Bobi Wine has come here for because he doesn’t know the deceased.
“If you are going for a funeral, just as other mourners, come in silently and sit down,” she said.
Mr Kyagulanyi has since said he was shocked by Ms Kazibwe’s behaviour, saying he grew knowing the former Vice President as one of the leaders in the country who could not make such statement.
