Ugandan rapper Gilson Wabuyu popularly known as Gravity Omutujju is nursing wounds after he was shot on Wednesday evening.

A statement posted on his official Facebook page indicated that the 25-year-old had been shot by unknown gunman and rushed to the hospital.
“Gravity Omutujju has been shot by an unknown gunman. Your prayers are needed,” reads the statement on his Facebook page.
Kasanda DPC, ASP Daniel Ogwellan confirmed the shooting on Thursday morning but referred this reporter to the regional police spokesperson, Mr Norbert Ochom, for more details.

“It is true he was shot but please contact [Wamala] region police spokesperson for details,” ASP Ogwellan said.
Mr Ochom said the Ekyakuzaala kye kirikutta singer was shot by a guard at LK Petrol Station in Bukuya Sub County, Kassanda District. He identified the guard as Amos Muhebwa. Police are still investigating circumstances that led to the shooting.

“The singer was reportedly heading to Lwebitute trading center for a show and made a stopover at the fuel station waiting to be led to the venue.
After fueling, the security guard fired at his crew. Motive yet to be established. The victim sustained injuries around the stomach, rushed to blue star clinic, Bukuya for first aid. He is in a stable condition. Three suspects arrested, riffle recovered,” Mr Ochom said in a statement.
The singer was transferred to Rubaga hospital in Kampala where he’s currently admitted while the guard and two other suspects are being detained at Kasanda Central Police Station. Police have preferred attempted murder charges against the guard.
