Most international artistes who come to Uganda for performances say that Uganda is blessed with curvaceous ladies. But all along, that had not been given a lot of attention until earlier today when Ann Mungoma decided to create a beauty pageant for the curved ladies.

Dubbed ‘Miss Curvy’, the event is going to happen this June at a venue and date that will be communicated and will also be an annual event as well.

While speaking at the press conference that was held at Mestil hotel, the state minister for Tourism Godfrey Kiwanda said that the event is meant to celebrate beauty.

“We have to create experience and excitement with things to do with Uganda because Tourism is not about animals. We have to market Uganda with its people and it’s with such events that we will be able to achieve this goal,” he said.

This event is open to celebrities too as long as they have the qualifications which include 18 years to 35, a curvaceous body and with some height as well, according to the organizers.

Mungoma added that she got the concept from Nigeria after comparing their ladies to ours. “After visiting Nigeria, I realized that our Ugandan ladies are far better than them when it comes to figures so I got the concept and decided to start it here.”

The event is in celebration of the big, bold and beautiful plus size Ugandan ladies and also celebrating true African beauty.
