No flowers, chocolate as men’s conference kicks off on Valentine’s Day

When it comes to trending on social media, Kenyans take the medal.

As expected, they have been making fun of Valentine’s Day, an occasion that is dreaded by many men.

Since the beginning of the week, men have been “organising’ a conference that was to commence on the eve of Valentine’s Day and end on Saturday.

In reality, there was no such conference, just a way of men seeking to be away from their women and therefore shirk the expenditures that come with the day.

Many camped on Twitter to provide hilarious “updates” of the conference.

Some even recommended the agenda of the meeting.

Programme for the men’s conference in South Africa

As expected, Ugandans never want to be left out of anything. They jumped onto this one, with some booking last minute flights to South Africa.

Even Val Oketch, the doctor of love is at the conference…

But as the saying goes, behind every successful man, there is a committed and hardworking women; women also packed their bags to go and give moral support to their men at the conference.

Though one woman who tried to follow her husband did not have it easy.

In a twist of fate, some men appear to have gone against the bro code and decided not to attend the “conference”. Reason? So they can “take care of the women being left behind.
