On December 18, 2015, Nation Media Group started a Luganda TV station, Spark TV. Following its unveiling, critics debated whether the station would live to see its second birthday. It is now three years and on January 1, Spark TV made a mark on the social scene with a magnificent show dubbed Spark TV Mega Fest at Uganda Museum.
It was a sold out show with more than 20 artistes performing, from little knowns to big weights. As early as 10am, fans started streaming in and at 10pm, artistes began performing, leaving no room for an idle stage. MC Mosh and Miles Rwamiti were the main hosts of the night.
Roden Y, Fik Fameica, Lydia Jazmine, King Saha, Chris Evans, Chosen Becky, Spice Diana and Geosteady put up the most impressive performances of the night.
However, like any other show, there were some hiccups. At a point, for close to an hour, there was total darkness on the stage after lights and sound were tampered with.
The revellers were beginning to lose their cool, but the organisers did some magic there, bringing Chameleone and his brother Weasel on stage. This managed to cool the tempers as the brothers did mostly Goodlyfe songs. However as they performed Neera, Weasel broke down and stopped singing.
“You are the ones who have made this possible, so your word counts. Would you like us to have this event every year?” Mr Mosh asked the revellers. Their response? Your guess is as good as ours!
