President Museveni has asked the graduating students at Makerere University to opt for music or comedy as an alternative if they fail to get employment in their respective disciplines.
Speaking during the 69th graduation ceremony as the guest of honor, Mr Museveni said students most especially from the college of humanities and social sciences should focus on management skills since they can also become managers while others can become artists or comedians.
“It is not true that there are no jobs in Uganda. What is lacking is organization; part of it among the youths. If one fails to attain a job in either public or private organizations, they can opt for music or comedy just like Kato Lubwama (Rubaga South MP) who is also in Parliament,” Mr Museveni said.
According to the president, way graduates in the science related disciplines can say that there are no jobs because the country needs 80,000 doctors to achieve the World Health Organization goal. However, the Uganda has about 5,000 asking them to be patient and organized, according to the president.
He assured them of full support from the government since they have attained their qualifications.
