‘We shall overcome’ – Bobi Wine hits back at Balaam

Singer/politician Bobi Wine has hit back at events promoter Balaam Barugahare of Balam Events who confirmed that he registered an organization named ‘People Power’ in the authorities.

It’s no secret that Bobi Wine popularized the ‘People Power’ slogan in Uganda. Bobi Wine supporters say Balaam’s move is a direct attempt to frustrate their idol’s alleged presidential aspirations.

Now Bobi Wine who is currently out of the country seems to have indirectly responded to Balaam’s unexpected move. In a cryptic post shared on social media, Bobi Wine quotes Martin Luther King Jr.
“’We shall overcome because the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” Martin Luther King Jr,” Bobi Wine posted.

The post, accompanied with a picture of Bobi with his fist in the air and standing below a Martin Luther King Jr statue, seems to indicate that the Kyadondo East MP is angry at Balaam. Unlike his usual long posts, this was brief and straight to the point.

Meanwhile social media has resurrected an old post of Bobi Wine shared when Balaam lost his son Tumusuiime Amooti in 2016.
Below is the post:
My heartiest condolences to my brother and friend Saabavulu Balam Barugahare for the loss of our son Tumusiime Amooti. I can only imagine the pain and strain you’re going through. God knows you have tried everything below and above the sun to save the little angel but this is yet another moment for us to know that God always has the final decision. May the Lord keep you as strong as you have always been. We have you in our prayers. Rest in peace dear Tumusiime.”
