Twenty-five years later, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his wife MacKenzie are divorcing.
The billionaire and his wife announced the development in a co-signed statement on twitter an hour ago.
“We want to make people aware of a development in our lives. As our family and close friends know, after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends,” the statement on Jeff’s twitter account (@JeffBezos) reads in part.
In what appears to be the most heartwarming divorce statement ever, the couple said that if they had known 25 years ago that this divorce would happen, they would do it over again.
“We feel incredibly lucky to have been married to each other. If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again.”
The statement suggests that the couple might continue to work together as partners.
“We’ve had such a great life together as a married couple, and we also see wonderful futures ahead, as parents, friends, partners in ventures and projects, and as individuals pursuing ventures and adventures.”
“Though the labels might be different, we remain family, and we remain cherished friends.”
The couple has received overwhelming feedback from their twitter followers about their divorce.
In response to the tweet, Nico Alexander? said; “Jeff, I won’t offer condolences because this seems like a decision that will free you both. But I am curious what you’ve learned after all those years.”
Gadiy Lim? said; “There’s more to this than meets the eye. I’m sure it wasn’t a simple journey that you could just walk it off to make a decision this big. Thanks for sharing. A reminder to all that separations doesn’t always need to turn ugly, but instead be handled properly.”
