MP/singer Bobi Wine.

Prior to his sold-out Kyarenga concert at Busabala beach last month, Bobi Wine was warned not to involve politics in his performances but we all know that Bobi Wine and Robert Kyagulanyi the Member of Parliament (MP) are the same person. This might be the reason why he is going through the situation he is right now. Bobi Wine has been stopped to perform anywhere and his one love beach stopped from hosting events.

Musician turned politician Robert Kyagulanyi, commonly known as Bobi Wine, sings on stage in Busabala, suburb of Kampala, Uganda, on November 10, 2018. Thousands of Ugandans thronged a lakeside recreation ground to attend the long awaited first music concert of the politician after previous attempts were blocked by the Ugandan police.

“I call upon my fellow artistes to raise their voice. To know that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. What the regime is doing to me can do to anybody else. I also appeal to bodies like Uganda Performing Rights Society and to remind them that my performing rights are being stifled and if there is any time for them to raise their voice, it’s now,” Bobi said.

Recently, a woman who had booked Bobi Wine for a show fainted after police rejected her cries for the musician to sing because the money she had used to organize the event was a loan from the bank.
