As the year 2018 comes to an end, the Ugandan music Industry has seen its growth ever since it registered new comers. Many concerts have been held this year and they have done well but not for Fik Fameica.
Fameica’s second concert that took place last evening at Kyadondo Rugby grounds didn’t see him register another success as he failed to pull a sensible crowd for his concert dubbed My Journey.
At 8:30pm, there was no action on the stage, the event hosts were engaging the revelers who were scattered in the grounds perhaps as they wait for more numbers but this was done for 30 minutes and there was no change in numbers, the people were not more than 500 people.
At 9pm, they realized time was no longer on their side, the hosts invited singer Karole Kasita who is also a lead singer in S and S who performed before leaving stage for Arial disc, another upcoming singer. The show went on with performances from singers Ykee Benda, Fille and Gravity Omutujju among others.
The lights went off at exactly 11pm, the crowd had slightly increased in numbers, it was a way to usher Fik Fameica on the stage. The 22-year-old kicked off his performance with his first break-through song titled Pistol.
Despite the low turn-up, Fameica stuck to the plan. He proved his preparedness for the show. With Fenon records on sound and lighting, Fameica performed his songs back to back and after Pistol, he performed Mbega Wa Baala followed by Mutuwulira.
Following the fact that the singer has not more than 13 songs, he made sure he left stage for a breather every after performing three songs. He changed into different outfits but before continuing with performances, Fameica thanked the fans for the love they showed him by attending his concert.
“Thanks for being part of my journey, this is just the beginning,” Fameica said as he continued to do songs like Tonsukuma, Kachima, Tubikole, Property and Sconto among others. The singer must have rehearsed well for the show and he proved he could actually sing on a live band.
He stopped his performances at exactly midnight and apologized to everyone who was disappointed at the concert in anyway.
Fameica will today continue with the concert at Satelite Beach in Mukono and on Sunday at Golden City in Wakiso. On December 21, he will be at Kazo play grounds and he will go to Nimrod Beach in Luweero on Christmas Day.
Kyadongo Rugby Grounds is not a very big venue but it depends on how the show is promoted.
Fik Fameica is a good artiste with only hit songs and this is one aspect that takes someone for a concert.
It could be argued that the singer’s fans are young people at the university and the holiday makers.
The concert happened at a time when the university students broke off for holidays and most of them stay at home and have curfew so they cannot have the freedom they have like the ones in hostels and their rentals.
The holiday makers who were home like to have fun and these sneak out all the time, the only problem is that they are comfortable with Shs 10,000 entrance charge. Levixone and Gravity Omutujju have filled Cricket Oval because of a fair charge.
