Congolese Lingala music icon Awilo to perform in Uganda

Uganda has been blessed with legendary singers and this time around, it will be Congolese legend of Lingala music, Awilo Longomba who is set to perform live in Kampala early next year.

Sqoop news desk has learnt that Cents Events Uganda’s Vincent Nsubuga has been in touch with the legendary singer since 2017 and he is in final talks with him for the show scheduled for April 2019 at Serena Hotel, Kampala.

Sources at Serena confirmed to our reporter that the bookings are already underway and they are about to finish the deals with the events manager of Cents Events Uganda.

When contacted, Mr Nsubuga confirmed the news and said the singer is on his way to Ugandan.
“Final talks and contract expected to be penned latest Monday morning. Live band performance after more than a decade of not being in Kampala,” Mr Nsubuga said.

Awilo Longomba is a Congolese musician who blossomed in the late 1990s through early 2000 as his music was very popular at that time.

He is a renowned drummer in Viva la Musica, Stukas, Nouvelle Generation and Loketo. In 1995, he finally quit drumming for singing and released his first album Moto Pamba with help from Shimita, Ballou Canta, Dindo Yogo, Dally Kimoko, Sam Mangwana, Syran Mbenza and Rigo Star.
