MICHAEL WHO? Micheal Kakooza, known to many as Micheal Ross, was one of RnB’s biggest names in the 2000s, until he was no more. Last weekend, the singer made a comeback… in a not so cool way as he became the talk of town after being thrown off stage by bouncers as Ginuwine was performing. Lawrence Ogwal sought out the singer to find out how he got up there and how he is coping after the incident.
1. Would you say last weekend’s incident was one of your worst moments?
I cannot say it was my worst moment. Getting up on stage while Ginuwine was performing was my idea and getting thrown off stage by the bouncers was a little embarrassing, but I have been through worse in life. Some people say it was a publicity stunt, but whoever thinks it was, then so be it.
2. How did you feel when the bouncers grabbed and threw you offstage?
They did not have to throw me off the stage like a chicken thief because that is how they made me feel, and I hope they do better next time as far as handling people is concerned. Any mishandling can result in injury or even death. I was lucky I did not sustain any of the above.
3. You met Ginuwine after the show, did he apologise to you?
Ginuwine’s management reached out to me after they got to know that it was actually me that was bounced off stage and they apologised but also pointed out that the bouncers were just doing their job.
4. At the press conference, Ginuwine expressed a possibility of doing a collaboration with you, how far with that?
True, Ginuwine mentioned a collaboration, but collaborations with American artistes, especially those who are already established, takes a lot. Big record labels are involved and it is also business. So one has to be ready financially because they have standards that have to be met in terms of both audio and video. But I am hopeful that it will happen.
5. You have been MIA. What has Micheal Ross been upto?
I have been recording an album which has taken up most of my time. The album titled Good Boy Vs Bad Boy is almost done and will be out soon. I recently released a song titled Crazy Love and I must say I prefer to take my time when making music because an artiste is as good as their last song. So I try to make sure my every last song is good. Besides, I owe it to my fans.
