The newly ‘married’ Member of Parliament for Lubaga North, Moses Kasibante has explained why he delayed his formal introduction.
“15 years back when we had just met, I made a formal visit (okukyala), to her parents. It was a very simple in-door function, but it appeased the parents,” Kasibante said in an interview.
He says the delay was God’s plan, “We never planned to have it after this long, but that’s how God planned it. When we begun to have children, we now begun to plan how they could be part of it and this created more delays.” the MP says.
Kasibante was introduced to the parents of his long time fiancé Lydia Nattimba at Kawanda on Saturday.
Indeed when Kasibante says the reason they took long was to have their children be part of the function, we believe him.
At the event all the four children participated in the greeting sessions, with the oldest boy Jonah leading a group of his age mates to greet guests. Their daughters, as well as their four-year-old-cheeky girl led the other groups
“We never planned to have it this long, but that’s how God planned it. When we begun to have children, we now begun to plan how they could be part of it and this created more delays,” he said.
Mr. Kasibante says that at the first visit in 2003 to the parents of his fiance Lydia Nattimba,”we took lots of gifts to them and they allowed us to begin a family. I promised to go back for an introduction and we begun to plan together.”
Because there is life after an introduction, Kasibante says, “we planned not to have an expensive function, but a function that could make our parents happy.”
But during the gift presentation session on Saturday, the volume of gifts that were presented in the yard stunned residents.
Goats, heifers, cocks, furniture, refrigerator, a water tank, foodstuffs were a part of the gifts.
The event was climaxed with an engagement ceremony, where Moses went down on one knee and asked Lydia to marry him. She definitely said yes.
The ring was delivered on a drone camera creating further excitement and cheering, save for a minor crash that occurred when the drone rammed into decoration lights leading to a small moment power black out.
“We are definitely planning a church marriage, which will be held at Namirembe Cathedral, but to avoid unnecessary excitement, we shall reveal the date later,” Kasibante said.
