Here’s the controversial South Sudanese tycoon Lawrence Lual Malong Yor Junior; a man of large means and fat pockets.
In an exclusive interview with Citizen TV’s Jeff Koinange recently, Mr Yor, 30, revealed that he was wearing designer shoes worth $10,000 and a Rolex watch worth $100,000.
He boasted that he’s currently staying at the Presidential Suite of a top Nairobi hotel where he is paying $2,500 per night.
When questioned about the source of his immense wealth, Mr Yor – seemingly cagey – said:
“I got my wealth from my Lord Jesus Christ. My Lord Jesus Christ blessed me; I fly on private jets… I live in Presidential suites… I am blessed,” said the 30-year old.
The source of Lawrence Lual Malong’s wealth is not clear with many accusing him of dealing in illegal minerals.
Civil rights activists in Kenya have called for his extradition back to his homeland, South Sudan.
Some reports had said Mr Yor is former South Sudanese army chief of staff General Paul Malong’s son.
General Malong, however, dismissed the claims saying Yor was not his son. Yor also said he was not related to the general.
