Ugandan fashionista gears up for Miss Africa America 2018

Tekla Nakazibwe

If you thought that the way Ugandan Beauty Pageants make it internationally is by representing the country in Miss World, you are wrong. Many platforms have gotten Ugandans involved and some of the notable ones have been Miss Uganda North America and now Miss Africa America.

Tekla Nakazibwe, a Ugandan fashionista and philanthropist living and working in the US is set to represent Uganda in the Miss Africa America slated to take place on November 10 in USA Carlifornia. She will battle 11 other contestants from different African countries.

According to Nakazibwe, the Pageant brings together all Africans working in America and it gives a platform for them to uplift their dreams and empower them to do great things in the world. “If she goes through as Miss Africa America 2018/19, Nakazibwe says her role will be to raise awareness about young women who are victims of sex and human trafficking as they seek for job opportunities abroad.

Nakazibwe took part in the Miss Uganda North America last year and she didn’t go through. It didn’t stop her from joining another Pageant since she has a passion for fashion and design.
