FASHION POLICE: Ugandan Actress Eleanor Nabwiso bashed for wearing her wedding dress to AMVCAs

Eleanor Nawiso, best known for her role ‘Hope’ in the Hostel, a Television series that ran on NTV Uganda between 2011 and 2015 is one ‘celebrity’ that chooses to live a humble life.

Having married a crew-mate Mathew Nabwiso in 2014, the couple started a film company, and has since produced several movies.

At the weekend, they turned up in Nigeria for the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice awards. All was well until Eleanor walked to the red carpet in her Wedding changing dress.

The royal blue dress still fit her perfectly like it did on her wedding day. However, the internet does not forget.

As soon as it was posted on Style City, a fashion police group on Facebook yesterday, critics were quick to notice that she had rebounded a dress from way back in 2013. “Changing dress,”Esther Babirye commented.

Another group member who goes by the username Raed PK wrote, “That dress! Aha!!!! Didn’t know they are still sold.”

“I don’t know why bad things happen to good people. Fix it Jesus!” she added.

Smiley Gee said, “She needs to visit bridal lounge for red carpet gowns. Her dress reminds me of when I was a brides maid 15 years go.”

A sign of relief when Caroline R Beryl commented; “The suit and dress looked nice when they were on stage.
One thing I noticed is the other actors took photos with good cameras, different angles, nice locations and when makeup was still fresh. These are the official photos they gave their publicists to use and what was posted on social media. Our people should pick a leaf.”

“I remember that was her wedding changing dress.did she do a rebound?” asked Tendo Florence Bakireke.

Ugandans are too critical, when did it become criminal to rebound clothes?

Dottie Eyes said, “Celebs are in trouble, you recycle a dress once and the whole world is hmming??? Some of us recycle a dress to all the functions we have that year…and shall continue doing so without fear or favour, until the day the muzungu starts making disposable dresses.”

Meanwhile on another group, Fresh Peaches, many defended her choice of outfit.

Mrs Eleanor Nabwiso later changed into this outfit

Maasombila Owe Mamba said “at least she’s living within her means. Some of the people here trying to mock her are living miserable lives but pretending in public to be better so as to fit in society just to seek approval. Her dress her choice, did u want her to throw it out? As long as her man ain’t complaining arrrgh.”

Amutuhaire Fathil Ali “I don’t know why the post is illogically critical of her rebounding the dress…is she like supposed to throw it away? The dress has a special memory attached to it…why can’t she wear it again?!”

Christine Adero Adela “And what’s wrong with repeating clothes? At least she’s real and not trying to impress anyone. Let people be. Some of you have one outfit for every function.”

Tania Rakeri, a fashion designer and member of the group explain to members that Nabwiso had actually tried to look for a dress her size, but failed.

“She actually looked for a fitting dress last minute and failed. She visited my shop n tried on the dresses available but they all had issues…
This pic talks volumes of humility.Yay!

Much as there was a backlash, at least she had the mercy of married women on the group that have children.

Hannie Mukyala Rudevan “Am jealous not even one bum can fit in my dresses I used. Eleanor thanks for keeping in shape and rocking your dress. Someone come take my bum, hips and boobs.”

This is why Nabwiso rebounded the dress

In a post on her facebook page, Nabwiso explained the reason she wore her wedding dress to the awards.

“Always looked for a chance to rebound my wedding gown and after contacting enough designers on short notice with no avail I said why not.”
