Lillian Rukundo, a student from Uganda Christian University (UCU) who has been on remand at Luzira prison over charges of broadcasting pornographic material has been released on bail by Buganda Road court.

Yesterday court heard from the prison authorities at the women’s wing that the 23-year-old Mass Communication student is severely sick and admitted at Luzira health facility.

The authorities explained to Chief Magistrate Mary Babirye that Rukundo could not attend court because she got an Asthma attack yesterday morning and collapsed while entering the prison’s bus.

The magistrate then issued a production warrant for Rukundo to appear in court today to present her bail application. Considering her health condition, she has been granted a non-cash bail of Shs500, 000 and ordered her sureties to sign a Shs10 million bond.

Rukundo was last week on Monday charged and remanded to Luzira prison for allegedly procuring and uploading videos of herself while masturbating with an intention of sexually arousing whoever views them.

She is jointly charged with a social media blogger Ashiraf Kato alias Ashburg Katto who is said to have uploaded her pornographic videos and half naked body on the internet in 2017.

Ashburg was also yesterday released on a cash bail of Shs500, 000.

The duo’s luck ran out after a whistle blower tipped the Anti-pornographic committee that the two posted the contentious pictures on their official social media pages.

The pair returns to court on August 3 for trial
