A case registered on reference number SD/07/11/07/2018 has been opened against comedian Kapere for obtaining money under false pretense by a one Pastor Bakulu Mpagi of Nankuwade, a suburb on the Bulenga-Mityana road.

Kapere had promised to interest fellow comedian Amooti Omubalanguzi to feature in a music video for one of the musicians in Bakulu Mpagi’s church.

The musician says that he spotted Kapere perfoming at another church’s function and asked him if he could also perform for him.
“I asked if he could also come do that kind of comedy in my music video and he said ‘yes’. I also asked if he could also get me Amooti and he said he could. We all knew they work together so we believed it. He asked for Shs1.5 million saying the Shs1 million would be for Amooti while he would take the Shs500,000 as his broker fee. So i took him to meet my pastor since it is him (Bakulu) who funds my music. My pastor gave him the Shs1.5 million but since then i have never heard from Kapere,” the musician says.

Pastor Bakulu Mpagi and the musician say that they have already reported the case to police and warn that Kapeere should refund their money or face arrest. They say that they no longer want his services since they have already finished the video shoot in which he was supposed to take part.

While speaking on Spark TV’s Livewire show, Kapere admitted that he indeed knows the people but he has not been around.
“I have been in the field looking for money. My money comes in little bits but when i get it all i will refund their money. I have heard that the video has already been shot but i am begging them to have mercy on me,” Kapere said.

He, however, faulted his accusers for being impatient.

“I have to look for money to feed my children but those people are very impatient. We agreed with them but they did not have the patience to wait for me. That is the problem with the youth of today, they are impatient and big-headed like grave stones,” Kapere ranted.

He says that he doesn’t mind if he is arrested since this will save him from paying the money.
