Bebe Cool announced last year that he was having a concert this year but it was not until two months ago that he got a name for the concert. He decided to name it ‘Golden Heart’ season one and this was after a plight of a baby called Sheila whose mother showed up at his residence early one the money, looking for funds to have her daughter operated in India.
Preparations have been underway for the concert slated to happen on the August 3 at the Kampala Serena Hotel and yesterday, the reggae icon received a boost from Betway to further his dreams of helping more sick children.
The musician received a pledge of shs20million from the betting company for the good cause.
“The story of Baby Sheila deeply affected the staff at Betway who felt compelled to do anything they could to help. It is on this note that we have decided to collaborate with Bebe Cool to assist Sheila and five more children that he will be supporting receive the best treatment abroad,” said Adelle Agaba, the country manager of betway.
Bebe Cool, on the other hand, thanked the company and called on others to also come in and offer more support.
“I have always heard artistes pledge support at their concerts but when they are done, you will not hear anything about the proceeds. Unlike them, I started the initiative before the concert and I promise to continue every now and then because what happened to baby Shiella can happen to anyone else,” he said.
Proceeds raised from the event will be donated to the ‘Action for Disadvantaged people’, an NGO based in Kagoma Bombo where baby Sheila has been living.
