The Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine was the man to watch in the campaigns that ended on May 29, for the Rukungiri District Woman MP by-election.

Apart from former presidential candidate, Dr Kizza Besigye who hails from Rukungiri and his brand singer Adam Mugwana with Toka kwa Bala Bala and his new song Time up Jaja wa bana, Bobi Wine almost had the same following as Dr Besigye.

Bobi Wine has been involved in the campaigns for the last three days, drumming up support for the opposition FDC candidate, Betty Muzanira.

During the exercise, he was hosted on a radio talk show at a local radio station, Boona radio in Rukungiri town where he was compelled to speak in Rukiga since he’s a son-in-law of the land.

“This is not about Muzanira; this is not about FDC or you the people of Rukungiri. This is about us. It’s about all of us in this country because the country belongs to us all. Muzanira presents a voice that we think will add to what we have. One more voice is bigger than the voices of NRM you hear in Parliament. This is for the youth. Our generation must rise and bring change in this country,” said the flamboyant musician cum politician.

“As for me, I came in because of President Besigye. He has been fighting alone but it is not only for him. We all have a role to play in this country and time is now,” he added at the last rally at Buyanja town.

Like Dr Besigye and other strong opposition leaders, he would appear in the convoy as the last man standing on top of an open roof land cruiser V8 waving. The young and the old would match to his car for a fist bump.

He addressed at least 20 rallies in the district along other leaders of the Opposition, calling on the youth to turn up in large numbers to cast their vote.

He would begin his speech with a message in the Song Freedom invite his Ghetto vice president Nubian Lee to speak before moving on. Some of the youths would be seen moving out of the campaign rally after his speech.
