Get Out, a movie which cast Ugandan British-born actor Daniel Kaluuya in its lead role has scooped the award for best Original Screenplay in the 2018 Oscar awards.
Although he lost the best actor award to Gary Oldman, Kaluuya’s commendable performance as Chris Washington, the main protagonist is one that has won him love all over the world.
Get Out, a Bafta-nominated horror film which became the surprise U.S. hit of last year was made on a budget of just £3 million, and grossed £175 million at the box office. It marked Jordan Peele’s directorial debut, and nearly a year after the movie first hit theaters, it’s still a popular topic of discussion in the film community, with Peele earning praise for both his directing and the script and Kaluuya credited for his bravura lead performance.
The movie beat “The Big Sick, Lady Bird, The Shape of Water, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
Kaluuya also stars in new marvel movie Black Panther, which has broken box office records in recent days. He picked up the BAFTA Rising Star award last month thanks to his stellar year on screen.

Kaluuya was dressed to impress at the 90th Oscar Awards ceremony held at the Los Angeles-based Dolby Theatre. He turned heads in a sharp Brunello Cucinelli bronze velvet blazer with black satin lapels which he accentuated with a classic bow tie, black trousers and brogues.
