Musicians, OBs, politicians, former teachers pay tribute to Mowzey Radio

radio

Mowzey Radio has signed out for good. RIP

Although we knew that he had sustained fatal injuries after a bar fight and was fighting for his life at Case clinic, nothing could have prepared us for Mowzey Radio’s death, nothing. His untimely demise has hurt and shocked Ugandans from all walks of life. Here are some of the tributes to his life.

Olara Otunu: RIP Mowzey Radio, the Music Industry has lost an icon.

Sheeba (musician): GOD gives…GOD Takes Away. Death Is So Saddening. RIP MOZEY RADIO.

Muhoozi Kainerugaba (politician): Very sad to hear about the passing of a great Ugandan musical talent, Mowzey Radio. He will be sorely missed. RIP Radio.

Joseph Semutooke OB Kiira College Butiki: In school, he was a role model for us all…very brilliant in class, very disciplined and focused (a top prefect), very focused…arrogance was the only problem then — maybe it overgrew and produced other problems”

Mark SSali (communications practitioner): RIP Mowzey Radio. He was truly special. That powerful voice will live on forever.

President Museveni: Have been told about the untimely death of musician Moses Ssekibogo aka Mowzey Radio. I had only recently made a financial contribution towards his treatment and hoped he would get better. He was a talented young person with a great future ahead of him. May he rest in peace.”

Don Wanyama (senior presidential press secretary): Rest in peace Mowzey Radio. Like we say, “He Who Leaves a Work of Art Lives Forever”. You will not be forgotten.

Bobi Wine (Member of parliament/musician): It’s a blow to our country, it’s such a dark day in our country, we have not just lost a musician, we have lost an Icon and we are going to realise that slowly with time.

Samson Kasumba: Too much talent, little discipline RIP Radio.

Julius Luba, former teacher, Kiira College Butiki: He was a brilliant boy. He was an all-round student, a student leader, very academically sound, good at music, dance and drama. He used to recite these touching poems at assemblies and music shows that would leave all of us touched. We would wonder if he writes them himself. He was always smart and very organized. His bed was usually the neatest in Henry Mulooki house (the dormitory he was assigned to).
