If you have noticed, Malaika Nnyanzi has been off the airwaves and Brian Mulondo has been hosting the Mighty Breakfast show alone for about a week now.
Well, Malaika is not yet herself after she lost her young sister, Viola Nakalema, in a terrible accident on the last day of 2017 (December 31).
The presenter talked about the incident on social media saying that she got a call about her sister’s death on December 31 at 5.30pm. She says it so far is the worst phone call in her life.
“Viola (my little sister), Sue (my older sister) and a friend were on their way from Jinja when a boda boda came out of nowhere and as the driver swerved to avoid hitting the bike guy, he hit the side metal bar. Viola who was in the co-driver seat without a seat belt went through the windscreen, hit her head, broke her neck and legs and died. The driver and Sue who remained in the rolling car survived but have collision injuries,” she wrote.
Nakiyemba Linda, another sister posted, “I am so sad that I can’t make fun of your booty anymore and call you my consolation. I do not know what we are going to do without you here. Thank you for being so real, beautiful inside out, fun, amazing, hilarious, sooo cool. Thanks for being my hero. Rest in Peace kikazi.”
Malaika Nnyanzi also called on people to keep her in their prayers especially her sister and the driver who are nursing wounds.
“Please keep our family in your prayers but especially for Sue and the driver. My baby Kiki (Viola) was put to rest on 2nd Jan 2018 in Masaka. One day it will all make sense. But right now. It doesn’t. I miss my baby and it still feels like a bad dream.”
