Pia Pounds, real names Tracy Kirabo, is an example of when beauty meets with brains. The light-skinned and curvaceous 22-year-old is a former public relations practitioner passionate about writing and even runs her own blog.
On her blog, the Lubiri Secondary School old girl describes herself as “A motivational writer who indulges in abstract romance and lyrical creativity. I love quotes, poems, stories, songs: but I do go outside my shelf.”
With such love for writing, we expect well written songs from Big Talent and Eddy Kenzo who has been known for releasing bubble-gum songs. Irene Ntale, are you scared?
Pia is a dog lover who floods her social media followers with pictures of her dogs and dog videos she finds on the internet.
After she was signed onto Big Talent, the excited Pia immediately took to her social media and wrote: “Am so grateful for this day. I thank the almighty for the abundance in favor that overwhelms upon my head. I thank the almighty for the day Eddy Kenzo recognized me. Father please guide me into glory, this has been a dream for soooo long. I am so happy to be part of a family that never fails. Finally Pia is born. May the flashlight never fade.”

Her excitement can be attributed to the fact that she has been singing since her senior four vacation.
“I first took on the decision of being an artist in my senior four vac – at the age of 16. I was favored that the first time I stepped in studio a big artist Ragga Dee asked to feature on my song,” she says.
The song, Just The Way You Are did not do so well but it was a launching pad for Pia’s career.

Connection with Eddy Kenzo
However shortly after her vacation she decided to first finish her education. She will this December be graduating from the International University of East Africa with a degree in business and management studies.
“I realized I had to get done with school before really devoting to music completely. After being sure school was almost over, I re-enrolled in studio to record my album and that’s where luck found me,” she says.
Lady Luck has definitely been smiling down at Pia as Eddy Kenzo found her recording with producer Kuseim at Banq Records, a studio belonging to the Big Talent family and picked interest in her music.
“Kenzo is a natural mentor, before I knew it he was directing me and making a few changes in the song I was recording. After a few weeks he sat me down and asked me if being a star was my goal. I told him ‘yes’ and a contract was signed last week,” she explains.
IS SHE GOING TO UNSEAT REMA?
Pia is quick to rubbish rumors that she might be having something with Kenzo since the hasty signing of the contract. She says that it is only business between her and Kenzo.
“I’ve got more to offer than what they (those saying she is having an affair with Kenzo) think. I am a decent girl. It’s business with me and Mukulu kenzo,” Pia says.
Her style of music hangs between RnB and Afrobeat though she says she is flexible and willing to do even other genres.
