A few days ago, a big disappointment hit Uganda Reggae lovers hard when rumors that Jamaican singer Tarrus Riley will not be performing in Uganda, circulated.
This was not fully confirmed until the organisers of the show who are a new events company in the names of Red Fog events said they would confirm the Jamaicans’ singer in Uganda on Monday. By Monday evening, an official statement about the show was not released and neither did they call a press conference.
This was until at about 4am on Tuesday morning when the Jamaican singer took to his official verified Facebook page and issued a statement that indicated why he wont be performing in Uganda.
Earlier, it was stated that Tarrus Riley was booked for a Festival in Jamaica and he was to be paid twice the Ugandan money and it was the reason he called off the Ugandan show. All these were false stories because according to the singer’s statement, the event organizers were failed by the official Sponsors of the show and this failed the show from going on. They sent Tarrus an email asking if they could fix another date for the concert.
Tarrus Riley’s statement
It is amazing how quickly we as black brothers and sisters tend to speak badly of each other without getting all the facts, I have waited my entire career and it was like a dream come true to play in Kampala, Uganda.
My team has held this date for over three months only to receive an email from the promoters of the event two days ago which stated “Unfortunately, due to events beyond my control, our exclusive sponsor for the event, notified me only last week that they would not be fulfilling their contractual obligations… Due to this situation I am asking that we reschedule for a time when I am able to generate capital and secure a diversified sponsor base to make the concert happen.”
“My team and I are VERY disappointed but this is no fault of mine. #getthefacts #Uganda#TarrusRiley #BSMG #Cannon#JukeBoxx”
Tarrus Riley was confirmed three months ago to perform in a show in Uganda on December 1 alongside Maddox Ssematimba and other Ugandan artistes. The show which was slated to take place next Friday at Cricket Oval in Lugogo can only be confirmed as failed.
