Frank Gashumba, a media critic and analyst was arrested yesterday evening at his home in Bunga. Much as there have been contradicting stories of where he was arrested form and what led to his arrest. His daughter and NTV presenter Sheila Gashumba narrated what happened and why she thinks some charges pinned against her father are wrong.
Sheila during a livestream on FB, said she was awake in bed at 8am when a van came and from it emerged non uniformed policemen, each holding a gun. The maid then told her that her dad was not safe and on getting outside, she found him in handcuffs.
“I found my dad standing out there with cuffs on his arms. They stood outside for like 10 minutes, and after, they said they wanted to check the house,” she said.
Sheila believes there is no problem with having two passports after all, she has two as well. She said she has two passports because she had to change after signing an affidavit.
“When I was younger, I was called Sheila Karol Nyinabashumba. Gashumba is like the family name. So to change a name, of course you have to swear an affidavit and all that. I have two passports. Because I signed an affidavit. And I don’t use my old passport anymore. And I am called Sheila Carol Gashumba now. Same happens to my dad. He also has two passports.”
The former T-Nation presenter further added that they don’t take drugs in their family. “In our family we don’t take drugs. In fact my dad has come out to advise people not to take drugs. Drugs are not good,” she said on her father’s wall where she was streaming live.
