The Kampala Fashion Week is undoubtedly one of the biggest events on the fashion calendar and with the previous three editions living up to the billing, the fourth edition slated for the 28th to the 30th of September promises even bigger and better things.
The event that has given a platform to upcoming fashion designers to showcase their brands will this time round be held at the Kampala Forest Resort in Muyenga from the Square as well as introduce new designers including Totally Ethnic among others.
According to Gloria Wavamunno, the founder of the event, the theme will focus on message and stories spoken by Ugandan and African artists through art.
“Because we have continental artists working with us, the story this year is to visualize nature and community because of the things that are happening in our community. With art, there is always a message behind everything,” she said.
The announcement that the Fashion Week is on was held at the Embers studio in industrial area with a number of celebrities in the fashion industry like American based top model from Uganda Aamito Lagum, Joram Muzira and Sheilla Gashumba in attendance.
The party was organized to create the vibe around the fashion week as well as allow people network and mingle which was the case as the crowd was seen charting, taking pictures and sipping on drinks.
For those who didn’t fancy talking, watching images of the previous events on a projector was the only option.
