The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCA) City Festival is getting bigger and better. The well-endowed KCCA executive director Jennifer Musisi, in a body hugging blue dress that wouldn’t pass for an NRM retreat or public service office, officially launched the festival at City Hall during which she announced that Diamond Platinumz is the headline artiste performing at the carnival.

“Diamond Platinumz has already been confirmed that he will be the main performer of this concert to perform alongside the other big artistes as has been the case in the previous carnivals. I can tell you that Diamond is excited to come and can’t wait,” she said. The will take place on October 6th to 8th.

“This year’s city festival is going to be different. We have added an extra day, we had just a day for the first four years. Last year we had two days of the carnival and this year we have added a day to make it three days. This is going to be a time for us to have fun despite all our differences as we get ready for our Independence on the 9th of October,” Musisi added.

Nigerian gospel artiste Eben will also perform

The difference this year is that the city carnival will have a concert to raise funds to renovate and refurbish KCCA dilapidated schools in the various divisions.

The ED also revealed that’s this year’s carnival is going to be an international event, saying they have sent invitations and gotten confirmation from many guests to be part of this year’s city carnival: “We have set a budget of Shs1.3b which will be retrieved from the sponsors so don’t be alarmed we are not going to use any of the authority’s moneys.”

So far we have obtained the list of artistes confirmed and like the years before, there will different stages but besides the main man, the Christian stage looks lit. Lovers of gospel music will get to witness the Nigerian Christian artiste E-Ben, PU also from Nigeria, Martin T-kay and Farlon Lyte from Zimbabwe all on on one stage thanks to Christ Embassy Church that has paid all the dues for the west African artistes.

Because it’s that big, expect free things but not for the main concert. Ordinary tickets will be 20k with a VIP ticket at 100k and the VIP table will be going for Shs3m.

We will be there to give you all the details during the event and a full time report.
