Despite the fact that Eddy Kenzo is Ugandan, it did not stop Kenya Tourism Board to unveil him as their official magical ambassador in Uganda and the rest of the region.
This followed a partnership between the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) with the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) and Kenya Airways where they entered into an agreement to promote regional domestic tourism under the ambit of the East Africa Tourism Platform.
According to KTB CEO, Betty Radier, Eddy Kenzo was selected because of his huge following not only in Uganda but in east Africa and beyond.
“We want to use music, culture and the arts to promote the diversity of our region and we are aware that Kenzo being a popular artist has a good following in social media and beyond making him a good channel od passing on the message of diversity and beautiful destinations available in Kenya and East Africa as a whole” said Betty.
Adding that they could have chosen an artist from the diaspora but they chose a Ugandan and an East African because they need to showcase the local talent and let other people appreciate what East Africa is made of.
The aim of this new partnership is increase the number of holiday and business travelers between Uganda Kenya and Rwanda whose citizens currently enjoy the single East Africa Travel Visa arrangement.
