If there is one thing artistes hate, it’s comparing them to others they think they are better than. But we are in an industry where this is inevitable.
About five years ago, Chameleon was considered the best East African artiste and at one point claimed to be Africa’s number six artiste. That was before the entry of Diamond Platinumz who somehow proved that many East African artistes are just jokers.
Diamond has done triple what other artistes have been doing and the results are open for everyone to see. He has scooped multiple awards, has collaborated with big international artistes and he’s currently the best out of this region.
This hasn’t pleased Chameleon one bit. He believes Diamond, despite all the successes, is still his junior. “Diamond is a good artiste but I’m a greater artiste,” he said while doing an interview with one of the radio stations.
He went ahead and claimed that Diamond has kept on asking him for a collaboration ever since 2013. “Mun G can be my witness. Diamond first called me for a collabo when we were on set shooting ‘Born champion’ with Mun G,” Chameleon confirmed.
Asked why he refused to work with the Tanzanian, the ‘Sili mujawo’ musician claimed that for a collabo to work out, both artistes have to be willing to do it. Not one party being interested while the other isn’t.
