Who inspired you to join radio?
Dee jay Erinalico of Endigito FM in Mbarara District is the guy who charmed my heart and I vowed I would be like him and here I am. Besides being funny, he’s very lively when presenting, with a good selection of songs.
How and when did you join radio?
After my Senior Six, I studied a diploma in Journalism at Bishop Stuart University, Mbarara District and joined the working class in 2012 as a news reporter at Radio West.
Thereafter, I started another work experience on Radio Five as a volunteer reporter but with essence of scheming for a radio presenter position.
Much as my passion was to present on radio, I knew that it was not easy to start off with it but being an intelligent fresher, I managed to start and I’m doing it very well.
How did you feel hosting a show for the first time?
It was excitement because I had longed for it. I knew my calculations had worked and did it with all the love. Do you know that I called all friends in my phonebook to listen to my show? It was a late night show and had a good listenership base.
Why did you leave Radio Five?
Mbabule FM directors spotted and assigned me as their programmes manager as well as a news man with a better payment.
What do you think makes you unique from fellow presenters?
I’m very eloquent with good communication skills. Being linguistic is an added advantage because I can present in most of the local languages especially Runyankole, Rukiga, Luganda and English. Secondly, I plan ahead!
Have any of your female fans ever developed a crush on you?
Very often, but I always try to be open by telling them the truth because naturally I am not a guy of ladies and believe in having one wife.
Where do you see yourself from now?
I want to be a TV presenter after finishing my current bachelors’ degree in Mass communication. Simon Kasyate of NTV inspires me to do this job. I like his style of interviewing his guests on set.
What keeps you moving in an industry which seems challenging?
The passion, respect given to my employers and workmates plus listening to the audience because they advise and guides me always where it is necessary.
