The Fate of the Furious is total rubbish and the cinema would still be packed. I would also be lying if I said that. The eighth installment in the franchise serves the same exhilaration the past movies have done. Yes, you’ll miss Paul Walker but in the same way you do when you talk about a beloved friend who went away.
Following up from the last time we saw them, Dom (Diesel) and Letty (Rodriguez) still have that just-married glow. However, things get weird when Dom turns on his family. Suddenly the guy who brought this family of former street racers together seems hell bent on tearing them apart. Strange, right? So the movie is all about his crew, with help from Hobbs (Johnson) and former enemies Deckard Shaw, bring Dom to his senses. So in case you were among the ones who were worried that this franchise had been milked to dryness, no worries. The plot is intriguing enough to keep things interesting. If you’ve been following the alleged feud between Diesel and Johnson via social media, then their onscreen tension is even more interesting. And we all know that this franchise’s appeal is not really the plot but about furiously fast automobiles. On that front, the movie doesn’t disappoint. It’s one of those things you have to see to believe. I guess it pays to use the same cinematographer.
The cast and the good chemistry they have always makes watching the movie like hanging out with friends. The new faces are a great addition. I mean, who doesn’t want to see a villainous Charlize Theron? That said, I’m not too warm about another movie, but hey, isn’t that what we always say?
