The female socialite arrives at the party
You might just see JP as a logo but it’s something worth more for Jack Pemba as it almost landed Vasha Joan into trouble on Friday.
The female socialite who was celebrating her birthday at Nawab restaurant in an event said to have cost over Shs6million with just 40 guests has been warned by Jack Pemba’s lawyers for using his logo without his consent.
Vasha used Jack Pemba’s logo on her banners, backdrop and tear drops which implied that the business tycoon was involved in the birthday celebration which was not the case.
The socialite was served with a notice from Kiwa Francis Franck Advocates and Alaka & Company Advocates who are the lawyers of Jack Pemba.

Part of the notice reads:
‘My attention has been drawn to media reports where you celebrated your birthday party at a certain restaurant in Kampala City. Of keen interest to us were banners displayed at your birthday venue, with your photo prominently displayed in the middle of the banner, surrounded by two known logos of Pemba Sports Africa on either side of your photo and banner. A copy of the impugned banner is indicated herein below;
The willful and unauthorized inclusion of the logo(s) of Pemba Sports Africa in your birthday banner are calculated attempts to mislead the Company’s partners and the general public to believe that a relationship between you and Pemba Sports Africa Limited; when you are aware that relationship does not and has never existed. The Reputation of Pemba Sports Africa Limited in Sports circles is hard earned and they are intent on keeping it unsoiled. The Management of Pemba Sports Africa Limited has never entered into any arrangement whatsoever with you and did not in any way financially facilitate your said event. The Management thus disassociates itself from your event and strongly condemns your unsanctioned and illegal use of the Company’s logos in any of your events.’
They further went on to advise her to desist from any further unlawful use of the Company’s Logos or name in any of her events in future and that the company shall not hesitate to employ all lawful means to seize and destroy any items where its name and logo(s) are used without its express written authorization and also seek injunctive reliefs available by Law in Uganda.
Jack Pemba is a business tycoon behind Pemba Sports Academy and has been behind quite a number of charitable organizations that have seen many people’s lives changed.
