On New Year’s Eve, a number of models who will be featuring in the Run Way Heat, a new programme that will be featuring on NTV, showcased their sense of style and fashion.

Models, both ladies and men entertained revellers who had graced the event at Club Establishment in Industrial area as they showed off different styles and fashion throwing some light on what the viewers should expect as soon as the programme commences.

At 9pm, the MC for the event Keith Karuhura officially opened the function. This was followed by a video which showed what has been transpiring ever since the Run Way Heat  was launched.

In the video were various models who turned up for the screening process from different parts of the country and who shared what it took for them to be selected.

This was followed by opening remarks from Flosha Shaka, the main host of the event who introduced the judges, Carol Flower, a presenter and producer at NTV, Brenda Nanyonjo the CEO Miss Uganda, Gaetano Kagwa, a presenter at Capital FM, and Joram Muzira, a model trainer.

Flosha revealed that the main reason for the Run Way Heat will be to identify and bring up new models in Uganda so that they can be helped to take their talent to a higher level.

“We are looking for models that we shall train and they excel such that they can make Uganda proud, we want to break the old mentality of people looking at models as jobless people who use modeling as an escape route of unemployment. We want modeling to be a profession that pays people handsomely,” she said.

Flosha added that Run Way Heat will be a typical Ugandan reality show that will exhibit the hustle that Ugandan models go through before they are known publicly and not a show that will try to imitate America Next Top Model, a reality TV show in the US.

“From the show, you will notice that our models will not be that exotic but they will be advancing with time, we don’t want to imitate other well-established models, we want to be our own,” she added.

The show aims at identifying the best models that will be selling products and taking Uganda to a higher level in modelling. The winner is slated to get a brand new car
