Renowned events promoter Balaam Barugahara lost his son Jonathan Tumusiime Amooti to germ cell tumor last Sunday. The body of the toddler was laid to rest on Tuesday at Nakasajja on Gayaza road.
In his remarks, Balaam first thanked his in-laws for looking after his son for the three years he has been an absentee father. But it was the closing remarks that left mourners dumbfounded. “I am going to look for a wife and get other children,” he arrogantly said, bringing his father-in-law and baby mama, who was sitting a few feet away to tears.
Jonathan was Balaam’s only child. Sources at the burial said Balaam, who has raked in millions from the various events, most notably during President Museveni’s campaign, only entered the boy’s life about four months ago. In fact, when Jonathan was diagonised with the tumor at six months, it is the mother’s family that secured a bank loan to take him to India and South Africa to undergo a series of operations.
