High demand for low cost smartphones in emerging markets is one of the main reasons for the growth in worldwide smartphone sales with competition from Chinese firms. LG wants to capture this market with its latest LG X. It has a 1.7-inch secondary colour LCD display which stays on all the time, even when the phone is off, so you can view your notifications without having to turn on the main display. The notifications appear just as they would in the notification shade, so for instance, the first incoming alert for an email or WhatsApp will have the entire message displayed but subsequent alerts from the same app will only have the app icons and the picture of the sender. In addition to alerts, you can choose to have the time, date and battery level or a custom message permanently displayed. The highlights of this gadget are a second screen for displaying notifications and shortcuts to apps, a great design and is incredibly light and slim. It also has space for a nano sim plus a miscro SD upto 128GB. It runs decently with the Andriod marshmallow and takes a good picture with its 13-megapixel rare camera. The price stands between Shs450,000 and Shs600,000.
