Ziza Bafana fails to impress

Last Saturday, I took a stroll in Kampala and Ziza Bafana’s concert was the talk about town, a clear indicator that the concert would be a sellout.
Indeed it was, as that evening at Freedom City, the venue for the concert, looked small for the huge crowd that turned up for Agende Tuli majje concert.
What was left, was for the artiste to justify his self proclaimed title of dancehall god, if his latest song is anything to go by, but he did not.
First, his sense of style left a lot to be desired as he came on stage dressed in an all-black tight outfit with white straps. He later changed to another outfit. He then decided to sing on a live band but because the equipment were terrible, his performance was rather off.
He blamed the the venue owner for his misfortunes. “Can the owner of Freedom City come and rectify the sound. This is not what we bargained for,” Ziza Bafana said on the microphone.
In spite of this major setback, he stuck to his guns and performed with the live band which made the show boring.
At some point, a number of people in the VIP section were seen dozing while others decided to leave the venue.
As if that was not bad enough, most of the artistes that Ziza Bafana has collaborations with did not turn up for this event. Artistes such as Radio and Weasel (Byagana), Naira Ali (Shy Gal), King Saha (Bantu Baffe) and Zani Brown (Friendly Match) were a no-show.
That aside, Ziza Bafana kick-started his performance with Sagala ntalo, then Agende, Kidandali, Bantu baffe, Gyayo Ntekeyo, Pomini as well as Akalulu, one of his latest jams, Tuli majje and Agende which were the title tracks of this concert.
Thank God he had invited Chameleone, who was the surprise act of the night, because he put up a great show that brought life to the show. The other notable performances came from Bobi Wine, Fefe Busi, Levixone and Big Eye.
