The regional search for Miss Tourism Uganda is still going on. Over the weekend, beauties from two regions—Bunyoro and Teso—were crowned.
The Miss Tourism Bunyoro event, which took place last Saturday saw Stella Aine from Masindi District beat nine other girls for the crown.
The first runner up was Catherine Kente from Hoima District and Dinah Kugonza Amooti from Kibaale District was named the second runner up.
The pageant, which was held at Crown Hotel in Hoima Town, got off to a slow start. From when the gates were opened at 6pm to about 10pm, there was a handful of people at the venue. This did not stop entertainment from going on as Bunyoro-Kitara traditional dance group took to the stage and performed the famous entogoro dance.
For the main event to commence, the organisers waited for a full house because by the time the contestants introduced themselves to the crowd, the venue was full to the brim, and this was around midnight.
Talent on show
The contestants exhibited their fashion talents as they made different outfits from different inspirations in regards to tourism. Their outfits were made with materials like banana leaves, mats, newspapers, hides and skins, among others.
The contestants were each asked different questions by the judges. The questions, which needed logic and general knowledge, got some contestants misfiring while others were on point.
There were also other performances from up and coming artistes and unlike in other regions, the event in Hoima ended at 4am.
On the other side of the country, Miss Tourism Teso also took place on the same weekend. The event held at Trends Bar in Soroti Town saw Dianah Akiro Egatu emerge winner, Judith Kifola first runner up, and Martha Agwang as the second runner up.
