Forget those past editions of the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) carnival where organisers promised belly dancers from Brazil but bought masked belly dancers from Nakulabye masquerading as Brazillians. This year there will be no lies. During the launch of the 2016 edition, the organisers confirmed it will be an event to celebrate Uganda’s culture and diversity under the theme; Black, Yellow and Red affair. The festival, which has most of the busy streets in Kampala closed, will take place on October 2, with perennial usual sponsor Uganda Breweries offering Shs150m. KCCA boss Jennifer Musisi, who will work alongside the newly appointed Minister of Kampala Beti Kamya, said this time round they hope to attract a much bigger number compared to last year.
