Kadongokamu singer Gerald Kiweewa arrested over drunk driving

Police in Masaka have arrested Kadongokamu singer Gerald Kiweewa and nine others over drink-driving.

Singer Kiweewa who was driving a Toyota Corolla UAF 542H was among those arrested on Friday night at around 2am along Nakayiba-Nyendo-Ssenyange division in Masaka.

ASP Hassan Ssekalema, the assistant traffic officer confirmed the arrest and said Kiweewa was driving from Kibaale, Lwanda Sub County in Rakai district where he had held a concert and was heading to Kampala.

ASP Ssekalema said that Kiweewa during examination was found to be heavily intoxicated and he could hardly say a word.

“We shall always carryout these operations to reduce accidents that exist on Masaka road every day, the suspects shall be charged and be prosecuted,” Ssekalema said.

Kiweewa told police that he had a concert in Masindi and asked police to release him, promising that he would come back to face the charges. He was released after spending nine hours at police and warned to report back.
