Fashion tip: paple rayn

Paple rayn: The designs were quite daring and last Saturday’s Paple Rayn show revealed that Ugandan designers are getting out of their comfort zone.

The Paple Rayn fashion showcase that took place last Saturday was quite the show. Organised to celebrate three years of continued services by online store, Paple Rayn hub, the store also announced musical group, Sauti Africa as this year’s ambassadors for the brand. It was quite refreshing to see Ugandan designers get out of their comfort zone and break boundaries with their amazing creations.
There are, however specific pieces that stood out.

Paple Rayn Hub
Being the night’s hosts, the brand definitely outdid themselves, with the release of their new collection that included men’s capes. And I must admit, I am looking forward to seeing Kampala’s top fashionistas rock this daring look. I guess this officially makes the capes unisex.

Beryl Qoture
The couturier brand unveiled its latest collection, and my did they drop jaws! The white and gold-themed collection highlighted some of the latest trends that are going to dominate fashion next year. From kaftans, to thigh splits, there was no shortage of style with this collection. My personal favourite was the mullet LWD, worn by model, Vivian Mutesi. It would be nice to have this look make a comeback.

K-raphael
From the opening act riding onto the runway on a hover board to the numerous masks, donned by some of the models, there was endless creativity with this collection. Fashion is definitely going futuristic, and the pieces by Raphael Kasule, depicted that.

Vencyz world
The bridal themed collection definitely gives a lot of ideas to the soon-to-be bride, and even though some of the pieces were quite daring, they are worth the try. We saw a lot of sheer and illusion panels with the collection. Off the runway, some of the gowns could use a little help with nude lining. I mean, which bride is going to walk into church with her undies on show for everyone to see?

Mosaic
The African kitenge is still going to dominate fashion. And this collection, by Mosaic fashion house, used a great technique of blending the kitenge with other fabrics, which is the best way to wear kitenge lately. The maxi kitenge skirt paired with a ruffed white off shoulder top was my favourite from the collection.
