Richie Katts (RIP) with Kickboxer Golola Moses

Socialite and singer Richard Kato, commonly known as Richie Katts, died on Wednesday in a car accident on Mityana road. The singer was on his way to Masindi District where it is said he had gone to handle a court case involving a land wrangle. According to Geoffrey Tamale, one of Katts’ friends who was travelling with him in a Rav4 car, the accident happened between 7:30am and 7:40am on Wednesday around River Kafu. There were about four people in the car, including Katts’ lawyer and his security man, Benson Mugisha.
“The car overturned about five times. Richie was thrown out and the other three people sustained minor injuries,” Tamale says. The body was then taken to Mulago mortuary and later to his mother’s home in Kiyunga, Mukono District where a vigil took place.
By press time, Katts’friend, only identified as John, said burial will take place today in Jinja District in a village called Kikondo at 4pm. Richie Kats was mostly known as a big spender and at the peak of his music career between 2011-2012, he frequented Club Rouge, flanked by bouncers. Lately, he was a common face at Club Venom, Laftaz and Club Play among others, where he splashed money. RIP Katts!
