Last Year, Uganda’s very own Stacey Aamito Lagum was crowned Africa’s Next Top model and it took all Ugandans by surprise when she brought home the title. Now former Miss Uganda 2014/15 Leah Kalanguka was not about to let her modeling career die with the crown and at the beginning of last month she joined a modeling competition on another level, something much bigger than the Africa’s Next Top Model. Kalanguka went for the World Next Top model which has been on in Lebanon.
For the whole May, statistics indicated that Kalanguka was leading the competition, with Brazilian beauty queen coming in second position by. However, all this changed on Tuesday night during the crowning at Grand Hills Hotel – Broumana in Lebanon. Verjiniq Jomes from Malta took the World’s Next Top Model 2016 crown.
Kalanguka, who was leading ended up among the first 16 contestants out of the 44 beauty queens who took part in the competition. But she didn’t go empty handed, as she was crowned Miss People’s Choice. “Thank you for all the support, we got People’s choice Crown and managed to get to top 16. Something about each contestant is having only one title, but super grateful to you all for voting. Next time we shall get a bigger crown,” Kalanguka posted on her Facebook page.
Oh well at least we got something! Thanks Leah, keep going girl!
