The music video: Alib’Omu – Naava Grey

ali2

Good things come to those who wait, so they say. Yet in Naava’s case, it could be that those who wait, awesome things they create. When you start watching Naava’s video, you get this feeling that she was not in a rush. She doesn’t take the viewer for granted and has actually been incubating a product that is worth savouring.
Alib’omu starts with Naava adorned in a long white dress standing in front of a house at the lake. The ripples in the waters, her choice of colours do nothing less of evoking the right emotions of chastity and pure love in the eyes of the viewer. In a moment, you feel the video as if it were a light penetrating deep into the soul and pulling out that vulnerable side.
One thing phenomenal about Naava is that she will always choose a natural location, she will minimise the usage of effects, yet this minimisation doesn’t deem the expected results. Together as they stride with her one and only through the forested neatly-kept grassy area, there is a visual relatability that strikes across this couple. In all the simplicity, they achieve what expensive videos fail to.
Then comes the playful moment in the waters coupled with a journey on the canoe. All in all, it is more like a day in the life of these two lovers, peaking with a time at the bonfire. Alib’omu’s end takes you by surprise, simply because the video itself is a dilution of self in a trance. So when the video ends, you are clicked out of this trance and you return to the dystopia that is modern love. For whatever the video depicts is idealism, it is a perfect state, and what better way for man to quench his worries than get lost on this journey with Naava.
