He may not be well-known in the music circles, but singer Beenie Gunter is smiling after falling in things. The dancehall artiste who is famed for songs such as Sugar, John Paul and No offense was signed to Perfect Play Africa, a UK-based record label.
Working along with renowned labels such as Warner Music, Universal Records and Sony BMG, Perfect Play Africa has for a longtime been following Beenie Gunter’s music career.
“After following Beenie Gunter for more than two years, we are proud to say he is now the first signing for Perfect Play Africa. He was announced to the board members last weekend,” Mr Hamid Matovu, the co-founder of the label, said, before adding that they are going to invest more than 400,000 Euros in his music career. “We believe that this will be the biggest music project in Uganda.”
Their first assignment is to promote his first single Digu Dance in Uganda next week before the track is released in USA, Europe and Asia the following week.
“You are looking at the beginning of a legacy of an Afro Beat Prince Beenie Gunter. We are here to make history,” Hamid said. Congrats Gunter!
