Our friends from Marvel are back! I have said before how much I love the Marvel movies. However, there is always the underlying fear that the next movie will have a weak plot. This is the 13th movie after all. So is the plot weak? NO.

The plot is set after what happened in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the more recent Avengers: Age of Ultron movies. On their latest mission, the Avengers set off a bomb which raises several hairs. And not in a good way. Most notably is The UN’s decision to hold the Avengers accountability by passing the Sokovia Accords.

The Accords would mean that there is someone monitoring the team’s activities. Tony Stark/Iron Man (Downey Jr) is all for the Accords mainly because of a guilty conscience over Ultron. Steve Rogers/ Captain America (Evans) does not trust the government given his history so of course he is against them. This causes a rift in the avengers divided into two camps led by Captain America on one end and Iron Man on the other. In the mix a few more Marvel characters get in on the action –hello Spidey! –and make for another Marvel masterpiece.

I call it a masterpiece because despite the many superheroes we are dealing with, there is no confusion. I thought it would be hard to keep up with all the characters and follow the plot at the same time. But the Russo brothers have a gift with switching between characters, action sequences, bits of humour, while keeping the plot on track. That alone makes the movie worthwhile.

Also, Captain America seems to have grown in this movie. Sure he still has a bit of his idealism but it does not come off as the naivety he showed in the first movie. His growth explains why the movie took on the Captain America title yet the plot has more than one man. For comic book fans, seeing bits of the storyline from the Civil War series should be a treat. Also, after Captain America: Civil War my appetite for the next series of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies is high.
